Alpes de Haute Provence
The Alpes de Haute-Provence represent naturally a mixed picture between the Alpes and the Provence. It's above all a protected departement. In the south of the area, the Verdon has dug the most genuine defiles in Europe, that can be contemplated from vertiginous view-points.
In the east side, the Val d'Allos with its winter skiing resorts and its long-walk paths.
In the west side the Durance valley, river which flow is driven by numerous dams, dams which have created numerous lakes, offers fruits and vegetables.
The town of Manosque and the end area of the Luberon define the touristic pole of the departement.
In the north side of the departement, the tops of the mountains spread over the sky and define the Ubaye valley all arround the town of Barcelonette.
When approaching the Provence Cote d'Azur area, this departement looks like the country side. This is not a negative point of view, it's all the contrary. There are still constructive lands, you can build new houses, which is the most and most exceptional privilege.
Here, people is not stressed but joyful. If big cities excitement misses you, you can easily drive to a big store in Marseille and be back very quickly.
Finally if you suffer from rhumatism, the very near Greoux les Bains thermal resort may be helpful to spend good winter time.
It's certainely, regarding real estate market, the less expensive departement of the Provence Cote d'Azur area.
